Instructions for use a material of the Head

The given Part of the Head is devoted repair of the petrol engine of 1.3 l, not connected with its extraction from the car (in situ).

The description большей parts of considered procedures is made, proceeding from the assumption that the power unit remains on the regular place in an impellent compartment of the car. In view of told, in a case if the engine is already dismantled and established on a workbench or the assembly stand, many of described steps should be lowered.

Let's notice that despite physical possibility of performance of repair in situ such components as shatunno-piston groups, this sort of works are usually made after dismantling of the engine in view of necessity of carrying out of some auxiliary procedures, not to mention requirements to observance of cleanliness of details and absolute passableness маслотоков.

The general description of the engine

The considered engine concerns family of 4-cylinder petrol engines with рядным placing of cylinders and the top arrangement of valves (OHV). Cross-section and longitudinal cuts of the engine are presented on illustrations. The engine is established cross-section in a forward part of the car and inclined forward at an angle 20 . Transmission and coupling assemblages are in the left part of the power unit.

Two basic updatings have engines: with low degree compression (type 135) and high degree compression (type 136) which differ also with a design of pistons (on the bottoms of pistons of engines of 135th type, unlike 136th, are provided samples) and camshafts. In the rest engines are identical. Visually engines it is possible to distinguish one from another on colour of an emblem with a logo of company Skoda located on a forward wall of a head of cylinders. On engines of 135th type the colourless emblem whereas on engines of type 136 the emblem is painted in yellow colour is applied.


The block of cylinders, head and head cover are cast from an aluminium alloy. The bottom part of cylinders гильзуется loose leaves of pig-iron moulding. The bases of sleeves are equipped by sealing linings in order to avoid penetration of a cooling liquid into the pallet картера.

The cranked shaft is established in three radical bearings. A flywheel with coupling assemblage fasten to a flange at the left end face of a shaft. The forward end of a cranked shaft is equipped by an asterisk for installation двухрядной chains of a drive of a camshaft. Radical and шатунные bearings have a demountable design and are equipped by two loose leaves. In the top head of a rod запрессована the bronze plug developed under landing of a piston finger.

The right end of a camshaft is equipped by a spiral gear wheel of a drive of the distributor of ignition. The drive of the oil pump also is made from a camshaft through a distributor axis.

The compulsory system of greasing of the engine is organised by means of шестеренчатого the pump taking away oil from the pallet картера through equipped mesh filter маслозаборник and submitting it to internal components of the engine, preliminary banishing through полнопоточный the oil filter of replaceable type established outside in a forward part of the block of cylinders.

In spite of the fact that the engine is not высокооборотным and does not differ the big capacity, it provides to the car quite decent dynamic characteristics.

Thanks to that the engine is not overloaded, under condition of use high-quality oil and fuel, it differs raised reliability and durability.

On an illustration curve capacities and a twisting moment, and also the expense of fuel depending on frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the carburettor engine are presented.
