Check of tightness of chambers of combustion

Compression check

Check is made by means of special компрессометра for the diesel engines, calculated on a high pressure. Check is made at the heated-up engine (oil temperature nearby 30С).


1. At decrease in efficiency of return of the engine, and also in case of occurrence of admissions of ignition it is necessary to make measurement компрессионного pressure in the cylinders which analysis of results will allow to define the general condition of the engine. Regular performance of check компрессионного pressure will help to reveal in time symptoms of malfunctions and to prevent development of their reasons.
2. Special компрессометр for the diesel engines, equipped with a transitive nozzle, it is connected to apertures under installation of atomizers of injection of fuel, or candles накаливания. A measuring instrument it is necessary expensively enough and to get it in a private use it makes sense no means always. In case of need it is possible to address to services of experts of car-care centre.
3. If to компрессометру special instructions are not enclosed, it is necessary to adhere to following general rules:

a) the Engine should be heated-up to normal working temperature, the air filter is cleaned, and the battery is completely charged;
b) Before the beginning of performance of procedure it is necessary to turn out all four atomizers (or all four candles накаливания). Atomizers should be removed complete with washers пламегасителей in order to avoid blowing of the last.
c) Electromagnetic запорный the valve should be disconnected in order to avoid casual start of the engine or fuel ejection.
d) do not forget to disunite a multicontact socket of the main plait of electroconducting of the engine, located behind the top support of the left rack of a forward suspension bracket.
4. Whereas the air path of the diesel engine is not equipped throttle заслонкой, necessity for keeping of a pedal of gas squeezed out disappears automatically.
5. Results of measurement of a compression should be compared with resulted in Specifications in the beginning of the given Chapter in demanded parametres. In case of occurrence of doubts address for consultation to experts of car-care centre.
6. The decrease reason компрессионного pressure upon the diesel engine to establish not so it is simple as on the petrol. The way with oil addition in cylinders in this case does not pass in view of risk of subsidence of oil on walls of vortical chambers, instead of its lowering to piston rings. The main moments of interpretation of results of check are more low resulted.
7. Results of measurement of pressure in all cylinders should be very close to each other. The disorder in 5 bar specifies in presence internal malfunctions in the engine. In the serviceable engine pressure should accrue very quickly. The low indication at the first step, accompanied by its gradual increase on the subsequent, specifies in deterioration of piston rings. If pressure does not rise at all, it is necessary to check up tightness of closing of valves and a condition of a lining of a head of cylinders (possibility of presence of cracks in a body actually heads is not excluded also).
8. Equally low pressure in two next cylinders with the big degree of probability specifies in infringement of integrity of a lining of a head around a crosspiece between the given cylinders. Presence of traces of a cooling liquid in картере will confirm the given assumption.
9. If value of a compression considerably exceeds norm, it is necessary to make декарбонизацию cylinders, having removed products нагарообразования on their walls.

Check of cylinders on presence of leaks


1. In a method basis measurement of speed of pressure decrease in the cylinder after giving in it of the compressed air is necessary. Procedure is some kind of alternative to check компрессионного pressure, its results allow to receive fuller information on a condition of the engine in view of possibility faster to establish a leak source (piston rings, valves, a lining etc.).
2. In view of necessity of application of the special equipment, it is necessary to charge performance of the given check to experts of car-care centre.
